Details
When I acquired the manufacturing side of the alarm business, I started keeping some pretty detailed records.
And by detailed records, I mean paper. Actual paper. Apparently, I was already old-school in 2017.
QuickBooks kept the official records, but I also maintained my own handwritten sheets. I could quickly look at them and know where systems went, when they went out, and reference other information if a customer called.
I still have those sheets today, dating all the way back to 2017.
Now I’m putting them to work again.
I’m going through those old records and preparing a mailing to customers who purchased systems years ago. Some of these customers bought from us as much as eight years before we developed our G2 system.
A lot has changed since then.
Our products have changed. The technology has changed. What we can offer for trailer security has changed considerably.
But one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that I still know where those systems went.
Sometimes hanging onto an old stack of paper turns out to be pretty useful.
