How we roll

A quick lesson from a project happening right now.
We are working on a time-sensitive project for a three-letter government agency. Deadlines matter. Delays are not an option.
A batch of cables arrived incorrect. The supplier is based in Arizona. Manufacturing happens in Slovakia. Logistics are what they are.
I could have pushed back. I could have waited for emails, explanations, and fault assignment. That would have protected my wallet for the moment and hurt the project.
Instead, I took responsibility. Even though the issue was not caused by us. We are paying to get the correct cables to the customer immediately.
Is it going to cost money in the short term. Possibly.
Does it help the customer’s timeline. Yes.
Does it show the agency that we handle problems instead of hiding from them. Yes.
This is how we operate.
When time matters and the stakes are real, excuses are useless. Solutions are not.
Short term costs fade. Reputation sticks.
