I didn't know
As I continue to prep and look at this possible project, I am learning much. “I” had only heard about the first one on the list, and was amazed with some of the information I learned from my contact there.
The picture below is pretty much the exact look I had on my face when I learned some of it.
This is not a done deal, but keeping things in a positive direction.
1. Los Alamos National Laboratory
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Founded during the Manhattan Project.
Focuses on nuclear weapons design, national security, supercomputing, and advanced research.
2. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Location: Livermore, California
The “other” major nuclear weapons design lab.
Known for the National Ignition Facility and fusion research.
3. Sandia National Laboratories
Main location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Secondary major site: Livermore, California
Handles engineering, weapons integration, electronics, security systems, and testing.
4. Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Originally part of the Manhattan Project.
Huge in supercomputing, nuclear science, materials science, and energy research.
5. Idaho National Laboratory
Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
Major nuclear reactor research and national security work.
Historically central to reactor development and testing.
