Making it easy

After a recent video post, someone asked why you do not just grab an off the shelf bolt.
Fair question.
Yes, it is an M10 with 1.5 pitch. You can buy them anywhere. Throw a metal bolt in and call it a day.
Here is the part people skip.
Metal encourages torque.
Torque breaks plastic.
Broken enclosure becomes our problem.
When someone leans on a steel bolt with a driver, the enclosure loses. The threads strip. The boss cracks. Then we get the email about “defective plastic.”
These systems are not mounted outside in the rain. They are not holding down a cylinder head. They sit inside a trailer.
The goal is simple:
• Close the lid
• Keep dust and hands out
• Prevent casual prying
Not create a torque contest.
A printed screw gives you built in forgiveness. It tightens enough. It stops before damage. It protects the enclosure instead of overpowering it.
And let’s be honest. We are already printing the box.
• No supply delays
• No hardware bins to manage
• No mismatched finishes
• No customer over tightening with an impact gun
You control the design. You control the material. You control the failure point.
If something ever strips, I would rather it be a five minute reprint of a screw than a cracked enclosure base.
Sometimes off the shelf works.
Sometimes purpose built works better.
