My thoughts on these
These two wire connectors are designed to do pretty much the same job, but after using both, I prefer the red two-piece style.
I discovered them a couple of years ago, and once I started using them, I never looked back.
The biggest difference I’ve found is that the two-piece design stays latched together much better. With the one-piece blue style, the cover can come unlatched a little too easily, especially if the wiring gets moved around during an installation.
Are either one perfect? No.
But after installing trailer security systems for more than 20 years, I’ve found the red two-piece connectors to be the more reliable choice.
Sometimes it’s the little things that make an installation hold up better years down the road. Funny how a 50-cent connector can save you from a 50-dollar headache. Or a three-hour service call.
