Not worth the effort

I’ve had people ask for years if our system can tie into a camera.

Short answer used to be no. At least not in a clean, portable way.

That may have changed.

We came across a unit that looks like it could integrate with our alarm output and send alerts when triggered. On paper, it checks the right boxes.

I considered buying one and running it through real world testing. Not halfway testing. Real testing.

After a few conversations and some number crunching, I decided against it.

Here’s why:

• The cost is not small
• The demand would be limited
• The support load would fall back on us
• The return would not justify the time or headaches

That does not mean it will not work.

It means it does not make sense for us to officially support it right now.

So instead of pretending it does not exist, I am telling you.

If you want to pursue that route on your own, there are options out there that appear compatible with a triggered alarm output.

We focus on what we know works at scale.

If camera integration reaches a point where the demand, pricing, and reliability line up, we will revisit it.

Until then, I would rather be honest than chase every shiny object that crosses the desk.
