Out of the norm is norm
Every once in a while, someone calls with a request that makes me stop and stare at the ceiling for a minute.
This was one of those.
A customer needed a very specific sensor. Not your everyday door switch or motion input. Something well outside what most people would consider “normal” for a trailer. And to be honest, I don’t think it is going in an actual trailer.
Here is the thing.
We are not boxed in by a fixed list of inputs. If it can trigger, we can usually make it talk to the system.
So I did what I do. Sat down behind the screen. Dug around. Compared specs. Looked at voltage, output type, compatibility. Found what I believe will do the job without turning it into a science project or draining the customer’s wallet.
The unit should arrive next week.
When it does:
• I will bench test it
• I will verify clean integration
• I will confirm real world function
• Then I will report back
Some companies sell what is in the catalog. That is it.
We solve problems.
Sometimes that means thinking a little sideways. Sometimes it means admitting you do not have the answer yet and going to find it.
If it works like I expect, one more box gets checked for what these systems can handle. If it does not, we adjust and try again.
That is how you build equipment that actually fits the real world instead of pretending the real world should fit the equipment.
