What battery

If you’re running one of our G2 trailer security systems, one question comes up a lot:

What battery should I use?

After years of installs, testing, and real-world use across race trailers, construction setups, and mobile job sites, one option keeps proving itself:

Group 31 lithium batteries

Here’s why.

1. Capacity that actually matters
Most Group 31 lithium batteries are 100Ah to 150Ah. That gives you longer runtime, more tolerance for standby draw, and less worry about the system going down.

2. Usable power
Lithium allows you to use most of the rated capacity. Around 80 to 100 percent. Lead-acid gives you about 50 percent.
A 150Ah lithium can perform closer to a 300Ah lead-acid in real use.

3. Stable voltage
Lithium holds a steady voltage through most of its cycle. That keeps your GPS, cellular communication, and system triggers working properly instead of degrading as the battery drains.

4. Standard size = easier installs
Group 31 is a known footprint. That means off-the-shelf battery boxes, consistent mounting, and no custom fabrication.

It also makes replacement simple later.

5. Built-in protection (BMS)
Quality lithium batteries include a Battery Management System that protects against overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuits.

Less risk. Fewer issues.

6. Less weight, more performance
Around 30 lbs for lithium vs 60 to 70 lbs for lead-acid, with more usable power.

7. Works across applications
Race trailers, construction trailers, conex boxes, mobile units, and specialty projects. One solution that fits all.

8. Easy upgrades
Group 31 makes it easy to scale up capacity later without redesigning your setup.

9. Availability
Widely available from multiple suppliers. When you need one, you can get one.

Bottom line
Group 31 lithium batteries are not the smallest or cheapest option.

But they offer:
• Reliable runtime
• Stable power
• Simple installs
• Built-in protection

Most importantly, they reduce problems.

And in trailer security, fewer problems means your system works when it matters most.
