Professional excuses
Here are some “expert-level” excuses people use to protect five or six figures of equipment with pure optimism:
Excuses People Use Instead of Real Trailer Security
• “It’s hooked to my truck. Nobody can steal both.”
Apparently thieves respect inconvenience.
• “We park in dark areas so we can see flashlights.”
Because criminals famously announce their presence with a light show.
• “I’ve got dogs inside.”
Bold move assuming your labradoodle is trained in tactical trailer defense.
• “I keep a gun in the truck.”
Excellent. As long as you are awake, nearby, sober, and faster than the guy who planned ahead.
• “I only stop for a minute.”
Right. Crime has a strict appointment schedule.
• “We park where there are cameras.”
Yes. You will have premium HD footage of your trailer leaving forever.
• “My trailer isn’t worth stealing.”
Thieves hate easy money. They prefer emotional fulfillment.
• “I put a padlock on it.”
The $3 hardware store special. Practically Fort Knox.
• “We stay at nice hotels.”
Criminals respect good Yelp ratings.
• “It’s too heavy to move.”
Tow trucks exist. So do winches. So do determined people.
• “Nobody knows what’s inside.”
Except the guys who watch race lots, job sites, and storage yards for a living.
• “Insurance will cover it.”
After deductibles. After delays. After your schedule is wrecked.
• “I’ve never had a problem before.”
Every theft victim’s famous last sentence.
• “I’ll hear it if someone messes with it.”
At 3:12 am. In a hotel. Three floors up. With the AC blasting.
• “My buddy is parked next to me.”
Two trailers. Twice the opportunity.
• “We hide AirTags in the trailer.”
Recovery is fun. Prevention is better.
You can protect your trailer with hope.
Or you can protect it with something built for the job.
Pretending your trailer is safe does not make it safe. It just makes the thief’s job easier.
