Project - portable horse stall security

This project is starting to move a lot faster now.

One advantage of being in business for over 20 years is that sometimes you already have a lot of the pieces sitting on the shelf. Instead of starting from scratch, it’s more about figuring out the best way to put the puzzle together.

I’ve also been getting feedback and ideas from several different people. Having multiple perspectives helps identify problems early and usually gets a project moving faster than trying to solve everything yourself.

One feature I’m particularly excited about is the use of rechargeable drill batteries.

Most trailer owners already own cordless drills.
Most already have multiple batteries.
Most already have chargers.

That means no special batteries to buy, no hunting down oddball replacements, and no guessing on battery condition. Most drill batteries already have built-in charge indicators, so checking available power is as simple as pressing a button.

Right now we’re evaluating support for 2-3 different battery platforms to give users some options.

We’re also adding a simple siren mute switch.

Need maximum attention? Turn the siren on.

Need a quieter notification-only mode around horses or in situations where a siren isn’t appropriate? Flip the switch and let the alerts do the work.

Still plenty of testing ahead, but it’s starting to look less like a pile of parts and more like an actual product. Which is usually the point where new problems show up and remind you who’s really in charge. The prototype always gets a vote.
