For more than 20 years, I’ve had conversations with trailer owners who thought they already understood trailer security.

Lock the doors.

Put a good coupler lock on it.

Park it somewhere visible.

Keep insurance on it.

Maybe hide a GPS tracker somewhere inside.

Those are all pieces of the puzzle. But there’s a much bigger picture that a lot of trailer owners still don’t know exists.

What if someone opens a door and you know about it almost immediately?

What if the trailer starts moving and you can track where it’s going?

What if an alarm doesn’t just make noise, but also flashes the trailer lights and locks the electric brakes?

That’s where the conversation changes.

The biggest obstacle we’ve faced over the years isn’t always convincing someone that trailer security is important.

Sometimes it’s simply getting them to realize what trailer security can actually be.

You can’t consider an option you don’t know exists.

And you can’t ask your trailer dealer for something you’ve never heard of.

That’s one reason I spend so much time talking about this stuff, visiting dealers and manufacturers, attending races and trade shows, and putting information out on social media.
