The good ole days
While digging through some old paperwork, I came across this magazine article from 2008.
It was written after a trade show we attended in Austin, Texas, representing Trailer Dog Security Systems.
My connection with Trailer Dog actually started a few years earlier. In 2005, I flew to Pennsylvania for training and installed one of their alarm systems on a Conex box.
At the time, Trailer Dog had a solid trailer security system. They were doing good work and had some innovative ideas for the industry.
Unfortunately, like many small businesses, they eventually closed their doors nearly 10 years ago.
Looking back at articles like this reminds me how much the trailer security industry has changed over the past 20 years. I’ve seen companies come and go, watched technology evolve, and learned a lot from the people I met along the way.
Some of those experiences eventually led to me acquiring the Pro-Tec trailer security system business in 2015, and continuing to improve and build on what came before.
It’s always fun finding little pieces of history like this. You never know what you’ll uncover when you start cleaning out old files. Apparently paperwork does have one survival trait that trailer thieves don’t. It sits quietly in a box for decades waiting to remind you how long you’ve been at this.
