I grew up in the heartland of America -mostly Missouri and Iowa - where racing wasn’t just a hobby, it was a family tradition. As a kid, we’d head to places like Burlington and Knoxville any chance we got to watch my uncle, Steve Hainline, battle it out on the sprint car circuit against some of the best in the business.

It didn’t take long before I was behind the wheel myself. I started kart racing at 14, kicking up dirt and chasing wins wherever I could -on the streets, on sprint kart tracks, and at larger road racing events like Texas World Speedway.

In 2004, a buddy of mine had his kart trailer broken into - twice. That lit a fire under me. I started digging into trailer security and quickly realized there weren’t many options out there. So in 2005, I launched Trailer-Alarms.com with a simple goal: to be the Jegs of trailer security. Looking back, I think we’ve done just that.

In 2015, I acquired ProTec System One and brought the manufacturing of the PTS-2 system to Texas. From there, we’ve grown steadily - expanding the product line, testing new features, and pushing to stay at the front of the pack when it comes to trailer protection.

At the 2017 PRI show, the message from customers was clear: they wanted GPS. We found a third-party partner and got a working system going within six months. While it functioned, it wasn’t exactly what we envisioned - the platform was adapted from a vehicle tracking system, and the costs were too high. Still, the innovation didn’t go unnoticed. That system earned us two Global Media Awards at the 2019 PRI Show, which was a proud moment for our team and a sign we were on the right path.

In 2023, I decided it was time to take full control. I tested systems from around the world and eventually found a device that did exactly what we needed. I went straight to the manufacturer, hired a team of programmers, and we built a new GPS platform from the ground up. In March 2024, we launched it. Now, users get a trailer-specific platform that performs better, gives them more control, and saves them money every year.

That’s how the G2 was born.

We’re not out here trying to keep up with the Joneses.

We are the Joneses.
