THIS JUST CAME IN:
After the race, we checked into a really nice hotel, grabbed something to eat, and finally got some sleep.
Around 2:30 in the morning, my phone went off with a trailer alarm alert.
Before I could even process what was happening, the siren was screaming and the trailer lights were flashing.
I jumped out of bed, and before I knew it, our whole team was running across the hotel parking lot in our underwear.
By the time we got there, whoever had forced the trailer door open had already taken off.
They got through the lock, but they never got anything else.
Every tool, spare tire, spare part, and piece of equipment was still sitting exactly where we left it.
The only thing I had to replace was the door lock.
Standing there looking at the trailer, it hit me just how much that alarm had saved us. Between the equipment, parts, and everything else inside, one theft could have ended our weekend or even our season.
Replacing one lock was cheap.
That night alone paid for the alarm system and the annual service many times over.
You always hope you’ll never need an alarm.
You sure appreciate having one when you do.
