Website stress

You can run a system at 99.9% uptime and still lose sleep over the 0.1%.

Last night was that 0.1%.

About 9 hours offline.
Not catastrophic in the grand scheme.
Feels like the world is ending when you are in it.

The screenshot says 99.91% uptime.
On paper, that looks solid.
In reality, that one outage hits all at once.

Messages.
Emails.
“What’s going on?”
Silence where there should not be silence.

This is the part people don’t see when things are working.

The system is back up and running.
Still a few things to clean up.
But it is functional and moving again.

Good reminder.

It is easy to judge performance by percentages.
It is a lot harder when you are living inside the exception.

99.9% uptime is the goal.
That 0.1% is where the stress lives.
